Billabong High School X Paw People

Educational Visit of Billabong High School Bhopal Grade 1 Students to Paw People Welfare Foundation's Recovery Home for Street Dogs

On November 4th 2023, Paw People Welfare Foundation had the privilege of hosting over 150 Grade 1 students from Billabong High School Bhopal at our Recovery Home for injured or sick street dogs. The aim of the visit was to educate the students on interacting with rescued dogs, fostering empathy, and promoting responsible pet parenting.


Participants

  • 150+ Grade 1 students

  • 20+ teachers and caretakers from Billabong High School Bhopal

  • Founders Abhishek Saini and Sakshi Shrivastava along with team from Paw People Welfare Foundation

Objectives

  • Educate students on the challenges faced by street dogs and the importance of animal welfare.

  • Provide practical knowledge on approaching and befriending rescued dogs safely.

  • Promote a sense of responsibility and empathy towards animals.

  • Strengthen the bond between the community and the Paw People Welfare Foundation.


Activities

The visit comprised a series of interactive and educational activities designed to engage the students while imparting valuable lessons on animal welfare:


Welcome and Introduction:

  • Paw People Welfare Foundation welcomed the students, teachers, and caretakers.

  • Brief introduction to the foundation's mission and the importance of caring for injured or sick street dogs.


Educational Session:

  • Informative sessions conducted by Abhishek & Sakshi on the challenges faced by street dogs and the objectives of the foundation.

  • Discussions on responsible pet ownership, the impact of abandonment, and the significance of rescue and rehabilitation.


Practical Demonstration:

  • Founder-led practical demonstration on how to approach rescued dogs safely.

  • Emphasis on understanding dog body language, signs of distress, and creating a positive environment for interaction.


Hands-on Experience:

  • Students had the opportunity to interact with rehabilitated dogs under the guidance of trained professionals.

  • Teachers and caretakers actively participated, reinforcing the importance of leading by example.


Q&A Session

  • Open forum for students to ask questions and clarify doubts.

  • Abhishek & Sakshi provided insights into the day-to-day activities of the foundation and shared heartwarming stories of successful rehabilitations.


The visit proved to be a resounding success, achieving its educational objectives and fostering a positive connection between the students and the rescued dogs. Billabong High School Bhopal's active participation and the dedication of Paw People Welfare Foundation's founders contributed to an enriching and memorable experience for all involved.
